ATKINS, VIRGINIA: ALEENE BLEVINS KEGLEY, age 87, died Monday, October 20, 2014 at her daughter's home in Saltville, Virginia.
She was born September 9, 1927 in Chilhowie, Virginia to the late John Preston and Sarah Blanch Porter Blevins. Aleene was a wonderful, thoughtful mother and granny to her children and grandchildren. She was a long standing member of the Quarry Methodist Church in Saltville. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Wayman Kegley and granddaughter, Lisa Renee Blankenbeckler.
Aleene is survived by two daughters, Joyce Sheets and husband, Eddie of Rural Retreat, Virginia and Mary Barrett of Saltville, Virginia; two sisters, Margaret Widener of Chilhowie, Virginia and Edith Barlow of Maryland; one brother, Clarence Blevins and wife, Peggy of Chilhowie, Virginia; one granddaughter, Patricia Lynn Smith; one great-granddaughter, Natasha Wright; one great-grandson, Michael Smith; one great-great-grandchild Jayden Wright; special friends, David and Wilma Calhoun of Atkins, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to say a special thank you to CARIS Hospice Services, especially to Marsha Smith, Shirley Church, Chaplin Mark Morgan, and Vera Densmore; and to her pastor, Pastor Vince Krauss.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Vince Krauss officiating. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Rosewood Memorial Gardens, Rural Retreat, Virginia. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
