MARION, VIRGINIA: ANN COX JENNINGS, age 92 passed away on August 22, 2011 at Francis Marion Manor Nursing Home after a long illness.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, the Honorable W. Pat Jennings, Sr.; a son, W. Pat Jennings, Jr. and a granddaughter, Judianne Jennings.
She was born in Sugar Grove and a daughter of the late I.C. Cox and Gladys Hutton Cox.
Ann was a member of First United Methodist Church and in her healthy years was a tireless worker in her community and the Smyth County Democratic Party.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law GC and Sara Jennings of Camp, Va., and Dick and Suzanne Jennings and daughter-in-law O'Donna Jennings all of Marion; one daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Bob Hovis of Oakton, Va., eight grandchildren, Beth J. Edwards, Bill Jennings, Dennis Jennings, Toni J. Patterson, Tammy J. Wright, "Trey" Jennings, Allison J. Dyess and Jonathan Jennings; sixteen great-grandchildren and a special friend and caregiver, Ann Raber.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 25 at 6 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Funeral Chapel, Marion, with Rev. Jonathan Jonas officiating. Visitation will be held immediately following the service.
Burial will be Friday morning, 10 a.m., at Rose Lawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Smyth County Free Clinic, 1583 N. Main Street, Marion VA 24354.
The family wishes to thank all the many employees at Francis Marion Manor who cared for Ann and especially Reverend Neville Mozingo.
