CERES, VIRGINIA: ANNE TILSON CASSELL, age 82, entered into her eternal home after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was born February 16, 1930 in Smyth County to the late Harmon and Virginia Tilson.
She was of the Christian faith, taught Sunday School, and took an active part in the wholesome activities of the Bethany United Methodist Church.
Anne graduated from Ceres High School, 1947, and received a Bachelors degree in Education from Radford College, Class of 1951. She was a devoted teacher and school administrator for 40 years, teaching in Virginia and on the Island of Guam in the South Pacific. She was also a proof reader for North Chicago Press.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 60 years, Otho Cassell of Ceres, Virginia; a daughter , Melanie Cassell of Ceres, Virginia; a son, Jeffrey Cassell and wife, Kathy of Saltville; a granddaughter Emily Cassell; two sisters, Tillie Umbarger and husband Woodson of Ceres, Virginia and Evelyn Hubble of Abingdon, Virginia
A celebration of life will be held Monday, January 7, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend William Schonenman, Jr. and Reverend Leon O`Quinn officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Graveside service and internment will be held January 8, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. in the Zion Cemetery, Nebo, Virginia.
