MARION, VIRGINIA: ANNE CARTER EMERSON, age 76, died Sunday, April 12, 2009 at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Virginia.
Mrs. Emerson was born to the late Carl and Faye Weaver Carter in White Top, Virginia. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and a long time member of the First United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Smyth County Community Hospital Lady's Auxiliary.
She is survived by her husband, Ralph J. Emerson of Marion, Virginia; one daughter and son-in-law, Theresa Walker, and husband, Randall of Alexandria, Virginia; one son and daughter-in-law, Ralph "Joey" Emerson, Jr., and wife, Tammy of Glen Allen, Virginia; two sisters, Jean Greer of Abingdon, Virginia and Sue Allen of Bristol, Virginia; three grandchildren, Ryan Walker, Emily Emerson, and Abigail Emerson; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Marion, Virginia with Reverend Jonathan Jonas and Reverend Neville Mozingo officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Burial will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens in Abingdon, Virginia.
