MARION, VIRGINIA: MISS ANNIE EDWARDS FRANCIS, age 92, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2012, at Francis Marion Manor nursing home.
She was born to William S. and Annie E. Francis on July 19, 1920 in Marion, Virginia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister, Eunice G. Francis and her four brothers; Albert W. Francis, Dr. William S. Francis, Walter E. Francis and Dr. David L. Francis. She leaves behind several cousins, nieces and nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.
Miss Francis was a lifelong Marion resident. She was the salutatorian of her Marion High School graduating class and graduated from what is now James Madison University. Except for one of teaching at the old Attoway school, she spent her working career in the office of Appalachian Power Company in Marion. She retired in 1982 with nearly 40 years continuous service. She was also a lifelong supporting member of the First United Methodist Church in Marion. Annie was loved by all who knew her.
With a cheerful disposition, inquisitive mind, and love for family she will be deeply missed.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, August 17, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Jonathan Jonas officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
