MARION, VIRGINIA: ARTHUR FRANK "HAP" THOMPSON, age 69, passed away, Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie, Virginia.
Frank lived all his life in Smyth County and worked on a farm in Atkins where he was known as "Hap". He has lived in Valley Health Care Center in Chilhowie for several years and enjoyed going to Friendship House when he was able.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit and Laura Belle Kegley Thompson; brother, Denny Thompson; and half-brother, Roger Thompson.
Frank is survived by a brother, Marvin Thompson and wife, Neva of Marion, Virginia; a sister, Mary Ann Bishop and husband, Carl of Fredericksburg, Virginia; a half-brother, John Thompson and wife, Sue of Marion, Virginia; an aunt who was raised in the family like a sister, Patti Tate of Fredericksburg, Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Iris Thompson of Fredericksburg, Virginia and Jody Powell of Smith, Mississippi. Two uncles and many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held, Monday, September 26, 2011 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Mike Teague and Reverend Emmit Wilson officiating. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bear Section of Wassum Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service.
