Bertha Whitaker

MARION, VIRGINIA: BERTHA DOYLE WHITAKER, age 86, died Monday, August 6, 2012 at her home in Marion, Virginia. She was a member of the Seven Mile Ford United Methodist Church; a wonderful mother and a strong, hard working woman. She is survived by one daughter, Gladys Owens and husband, Dayton of Glade Spring, Virginia; one son, Charlie Whitaker of Marion, Virginia; one grandson whom she raised, Floyd Whitaker and wife, Lea of Marion, Virginia; one granddaughter, Cheryl Buchanan and husband, Bryan of Blountville, Tennessee; great-grandson, Garrison Buchanan; three sisters, Margaret Thomas, Norfolk, Virginia, Ruth Dillman and husband, Quentin of Waterford, Virginia and Mary Stinson of Bethesda, Maryland. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Thomas Sullivan officiating. Graveside Services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
