HOUSTON - Bettie Jene Clark, 91, Houston, Tx., passed into her eternal home on April 19, 2022.
Bettie was born in Three Sands, Oklahoma on August 8, 1930. She is preceded in death by her parents William Ridgeway and Elnora Carson, and husband Garlen E. Clark.
She was married to Garlen E. Clark for 50 yrs. on April 8, 1949.
The day after she graduated from HS her father moved to Odessa for his work. In Odessa she met her husband Garlen and married him just after 3 courtship dates.
Bettie became a very active volunteer in Odessa. She volunteered at the globe of the great Southwest and served as a Juliet. She volunteered extensively at the Odessa Midland Regional Airport as a greeter. You couldn't miss her because she was the one in the hat. Bettie was the founder, creator and organizer of The Hat Lady club that would meet monthly at area restaurants for luncheons. Only requirement was to wear a hat. She also served as President of the Juliet Society & volunteered countless hours at the Senior Citizens Community Center. Although she held many interests, including dancing, her favorite thing to do was travel. She lived for the next road trip because she loved to drive and see the USA.
Bettie is survived by: her children, Dorinda Atkins, Ed Clark & Mechele Howard and their spouses, along with her grandchildren Traci, Andy, Chris, & Leiann Atkins & Lela Putman & her great grandchildren, Michael & Loghan Thompson, Bryton & Alexis Atkins, Eli Atkins & Everly Putman.
Bettie is preceded in death by her siblings, Billie Choina, Bonnie Propes & Bobby Ridgeway.
Bobby Lewis, Garry Lewis, Ed Clark, Olen Howard, & Baxter Turner will serve as pallbearers.
