LOUISA, VIRGINIA: BETTY LOU MARKESI BALL
Betty Lou Ball, age 71, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in Roanoke, Virginia.
Betty was born October 22, 1941 in Omaha Nebraska. Betty resided with her husband Sam in their Louisa County home. After retiring as a Retail Sales Manager she loved to garden, bird and squirrel watch and raise her many animals including her beloved Pomeranian Katie and many laying hens that provided the local community with fresh eggs. She always considered her furry friends to be a gift from God and would adopt any stray that needed a meal or place to call home. Betty loved to fish, cook and preserve fresh fruit and vegetables from her own garden and local farms. She was an avid reader who loved to share her stories. Her love of motorcycles led her and Sam on many adventures around the east coast. Betty was a very devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and cherished friend. She was preceded in death by her late husband Rex Horton Sr., her Parents Anthony and Faye Markesi of Omaha, Nebraksa.
Betty is survived by her husband of 15 years, Samuel (Sam) Lee Ball of Marion, Virginia currently residing in Louisa, Virginia; Mother-in-Law Ella Ball of Marion, Virginia; sons, Rex Horton Jr. of California and Donald (Barbara) Horton of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Sarah Horton (Robert) Vicich of Roanoke, Virginia; five grandchildren, Christina (Aaron) Nersinger, Ashley (Adam) Feser, Tony Horton, Allen Vicich and Aaron Vicich; eight great-grandchildren and one on the way.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel, Marion, Virginia with Chaplain Sherrill Michael officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
