MARION, VIRGINIA: BILLIE O. CUMMINGS, age 79 died Saturday, March 28, 2015 at her home in Marion, Virginia.
Mrs. Cummings will forever be known to her family as the World's Best Mother, Wife, MawMaw and Mother-In-Law. Billie could always be counted on by her family and friends, in a time of need, with food in hand and a handcrafted necklace, if they needed one. She was the absolute picture of Jesus' love in the way she cared for people. She was a faithful member of Marion Baptist Church and was always such a positive influence. Billie Cummings' smile, laughter and singing will be missed by many; especially her friends in the Joyful Noise Choir.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Randolph and Lucille Tilson Oakes and an infant daughter, Carol Lynn Cummings.
Billie is survived by her husband of 59 years, Wilburn R. "Buddy" Cummings of Marion, Virginia; daughter, Teri Townsend and husband Fred of Newport News, Virginia; son, Jeff Cummings and wife, Jean of Winston Salem, North Carolina; grandchildren, Bobby Clark, Stacey Major, Chad Townsend, Cory Townsend, Taylor Cummings and Sydney Cummings and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service will be held Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Darrell Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
