MARION, Va.: BILLY McBRIDE, age 74, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 4, 2015 after 15 years of fighting a courageous battle with cancer he received his healing.
Bill was a man of few words as most of his work time was spent on the road as a truck driver for 35 years. But after just a minute with him, you knew he was a man who loved his Lord and his time spent as deacon at Adwolfe Free Will Baptist Church, his family and people. "Papaw Mack" as his grandchildren fondly referred to him, was a lover of the outdoors. He enjoyed his farm, flowers and gardens. He was appreciative of God's creations. Bill was a loving husband, dad, papaw and friend. He will be missed by many.
He was preceded in death by his step-father, Henry Evans and his mother, Flossie Evans; and a brother, Roger McBride.
Bill is survived by his wife of 55 years, Linda King McBride of Marion, Va.; three daughters, Holly Cline of Wytheville, Va., Melody Brooks of Newport, N.C. and Melissa Fout and husband, Tim of Romney, W.V.; two brothers, Alvin Wyatt and wife Dean of Longs, S.C. and Mickey Garrett and wife, Jenny of Bristol, Va.; four grandchildren, Benjamin Fout, Brittney Baker, Michael Greer and Heather Wright; five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Bob Surber officiating.
