SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: CARL JOSEPH "JOE" LEE, age 84, died Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Cleo Cox Lee; one son, Phillip Stanton Lee; one sister, Frances Boyden and three brothers, Ellis Lee, Clarence Lee, and Robert C. Lee. Joe is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Frances Miller Lee of Sugar Grove, Virginia; three daughters, Deborah Lee McClanahan of Homestead, Florida, Sharon Lee Young of Dublin, Virginia and Marian Lee Hayes of Sugar Grove, Virginia; one son, Carl Anthony Lee of Sugar Grove, Virginia; four sisters, Nancy Purefoy and husband, James, Shirley Boyd Gaskins all of Marion, Virginia, Emily Collins of Piscataway, New Jersey and Lorraine Jackson and husband, Delmas "Ran" of Sugar Grove, Virginia; one brother, James T. Lee and wife, Elaine of Sugar Grove, Virginia; seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Joe was an outstanding Deacon and a long time member of the First Baptist Church. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 12:00 noon at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Bishop Nolan Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow in Slemp Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1474, Marion VA 24354. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com. Seaver-Brown Funeral Service and Crematory is serving the Lee Family.
