Carl Anthony "Tony" Mabe

Carl Anthony “Tony” Mabe age 66, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, Tenn.

Tony was born in Detroit, Michigan to the late Melvin and Shirley “Bobbie” Mabe. He was the best dad a kid could have growing up, and was still the best dad after adding the title of best grandad to his name. Tony worked offshore for Global Marine for 17 years in the oil drilling industry. When he wasn’t working his favorite past-time was being with his family, especially the grandkids. He liked learning about outer space and lighthouses, being outdoors camping and canoeing on the lake, and his large four legged friend, “Pet Bear.” If you knew Tony, you knew he was what you call an old school, die hard American. He loved his country and he proudly supported our military troops.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his good friend, Russell Bushnell.

Tony is survived by his daughter, Sarah Jones; grandchildren, Brynn Jones (Jacob Chambers) and Jaxxon Crawley; sister, Melvina “Mevie” Mabe, all of Marion, Va.; special friends, Allen “Sleepy” Hale, and David Farrington.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 5, 2023 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral services will begin at 8 p.m. with Blake Frazier officiating. Burial will be private.
