MARION, VIRGINIA: Carl Jeffery "Jeff" Stamper, age 46, died Saturday, January 16, 2010 at his home in Marion, Virginia. He loved being outdoors and especially enjoying a ride through the mountains. Jeff was devoted to his family, wife and children. His kindness was extended to everyone and he truly "never met a stranger". Fellow workers gave him the nickname "Smiley" because he always greeted everyone with a smile. Jeff also enjoyed trading guns such as flintlocks and muzzleloaders. He was a veteran of the United States Army and United States Air Force. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert & Lydia Parsons Stamper; three brothers, Jerry, Steve, & Billy Stamper. He is survived by his wife, Rhonda Dennison Stamper of Marion, Virginia; one daughter, April Nicole Stamper and boyfriend and "special son" Daniel Ray Grubb both of Marion, Virginia; one son, Jeremy Michael C. Stamper of Marion, Virginia; seven brothers, Robert W. Stamper & wife, Carolyn of Marion, Virginia; Jack L. Stamper & wife, Mary of Marion, Virginia; John S. Stamper & wife, Connie of Colorado; Buster Stamper of Chilhowie, Virginia; James "Jimmy" Stamper & friend, Mary of Chilhowie, Virginia; Ray Stamper & wife, Cassie of Marion, Virginia; and Tim Stamper & wife, Tina of Chilhowie, Virginia; three sisters Linda Mros & husband, Jim of Georgia; Brenda Hayden of Marion, Virginia; and Judy Brisson & husband, Richard of Norfolk, Virginia; mother and father-in-law, Beulah & Walt Dennison of Marion, Virginia; one sister-in-law, Darlene Lundy & husband, Jimmy of Galax, Virginia; two brothers-in-law, Bo Dennison & wife, Tina of Marion, Virginia; Roger Dennison & friend, Odette of Chilhowie, Virginia; one special baby, his dog "Tito"; and dozens of nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Bob Surber officiating. Burial will follow in the Thomas Cemetery, Marion, Virginia where Military Rites will be conducted by Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 19, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
