MARION, Va.
Carrie T. Sexton, age 96, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2021 at Francis Marion Manor.
Miss Carrie was a loving and devoted wife, mom, and grandmother. She loved to be with her family most of all. Carrie was a loving friend who spent as much time as she could being with them. Shopping, talking on the phone, and watching her stories on tv were just a few of the things she enjoyed, as well as reading her Bible and prayer time. Carrie retired from "the hill" after 38 years in food service. Her kind smile and gentle way will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Reber Sexton; parents, William and Nannie Thompson; siblings, Reeves Thompson, Trixie Shumate, Blye Pugh, Wanda McGrady, Greer Thompson and Wave Brooks; good friends, Edna Seymour and Ruby Johnson.
Carrie is survived by her daughter, Martha Russell and husband, Joe of Marion, Va.; sisters, Hazel Blackburn and husband, James of Independence, and Oakie Faircloth of Aberdeen, Md.; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Gentry and husband, Allen of Chilhowie, Va., and Jamie Russell of Marion, Va.; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Gentry and Kerri Jo Gentry, both of Chilhowie, Va.; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Nancy Hart, Betty Henderson, and Edith Bise, all of Marion, Va.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Herman Cress officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Burial will follow in Rose Lawn Cemetery.
