Rural Retreat, Va
Channing Kade Miller, age 26, passed away Friday, June 7, 2024 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.
Channing was a 2015 graduate of Rural Retreat High School and served four years in the United States Army Infantry stationed abroad in Germany, Europe and Poland. He was strong willed “reconciled machine to be tempted with” and arguably the best mechanic around. He was an outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and guns, but mostly he was the best father and loved Kayden more than anything. Channing was loved by so many and everyone would tell you how amazing of a person he was. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, James Franklin Grandstaff and uncle, James Matthew Grandstaff.
Channing is survived by his fiancée, Ashley Palmer of Wytheville, Va.; son, Kayden James Miller of Wytheville, Va.; parents, Dawn and Leroy Thompson of Marion, Va.; grandmother, Donna Grandstaff (John Mulikan); sisters, Savannah McMillan (Hunter) of Speedwell, Va., Madison Dillow of Wytheville, Va; brothers, Cameron Lee Thompson of Marion Va., Ryan Bayse (McKayla Taylor) of Wytheville, Va., Bodie Miller of Chilhowie, Va.; 5 nieces, Laney, Maggie, Blaire, Emma and Elly; one nephew, Jackson; special family and friends, Harvey Taylor, Sharon Grandstaff, Aubrey Palmer, Melissa Palmer, Boo Palmer, Doug and Hazel Robinson, Robert Dillow, Eric Miller and everyone at Phillip & Jessica Bledsoe's Sack Shack along with a host of many others.
