Charity Dell Farmer Hamm age 83, passed away Sunday, March 05, 2023.

Charity was born in the mountains of Grayson County, Va. to the late Avery Bynum Farmer and Rilda Alice Farmer. As a small child her family moved to Marion, Va. where her father ran a barber shop and her mother ran a country store. Between both businesses lots of great memories were formed. She worked the majority of her life at Virginia House Furniture in Marion. Charity was super proud of her town and spent many days socializing at daily breakfasts with her friends at McDonalds. Which then led into her being a collector and thief of sugar packets (regular, pink, yellow & blue), plastic cutlery, straws, napkins & jelly packets. A perfect way for her to top off the day was at McDonalds again for a burger and strawberry milkshake. They broke the mold when they made Charity. She was a one of a kind jokester with her signature thrift store hats, coats & vintage Mercedes. She was an adventurous soul who loved to travel, whether it was with the Bank of Marion or driving to every state in the continental U.S. Charity was a member of the American Legion and VFW. She played the role of both mother & father until she married her long time love Richard Hamm later in life. Every holiday season you could find Charity & Richard ringing the bell collecting money for the Salvation Army.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Richard; son Timmy; grandparents; and beloved dog Brutus.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Jason Eller (Audrey McMurry), Richard Kyle Hamm, Jr. and his family; sister and brother-in-law, Roxie and Donald Wood; nephew, Scott Wood; niece, Teresa Davis; and a host of cousins and friends.
