Charles Mitchell Edmiston, age 70, passed into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on September 18, 2024 after a valiant battle with cancer. 

 He was born May 17, 1954 to Joseph and Virginia Edmiston. Charlie was a graduate of Virginia Tech and served as a teacher in the Smyth County school system for 30 years before retiring in 2007. Charlie loved serving the Lord through the ministry of his church, Gethsemane Baptist. He loved being outdoors, hunting, fishing and working in his flower gardens. 

 Charlie was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Edmiston, and father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Betty Tate.

 Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Carol Edmiston; mother, Virginia Edmiston; two brothers, Keith (Brenda) Edmiston and Dennis (Kathy) Edmiston; stepchildren, Katie Huber, Ivan (Corey) Huber, and Erin (Lorin) Atkins; grandchildren Cyrus Ramsey, Bear Huber, Elin, Arie, and Emeri Atkins; sister-in-law, Susan Tate; nephews, Brian Edmiston, Scott (Carri) Edmiston, and Dustin (Laura) Edmiston; great-nephews, Grayson and Roman Edmiston.

 The family will receive friends Monday, September 23 from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m. at Gethsemane Baptist Church, 199 Fortner Avenue, Marion, VA. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Ryan Cox and Pastor Kayla Keilholtz officiating. Following the service, interment will take place in the columbarium at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 222 West Main Street, Marion, VA.
