Christopher Brian Hayden, Sr.

MARION, Va.

Christopher Brian Hayden, Sr., age 45, died on Monday, October 23, 2017. at Carrington Place of Wytheville.

Chris was a wonderful son, father, and friend. He loved his family, and his country and would proudly defend each of them. He was a living, breathing U.S. Marine. Chris enjoyed his work at Gatorade, and his collection of guns. Chris never took up much space, but his passing will leave a huge space in the hearts and lives of his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hurley and Geneva Davis, and Roby and Vergie Hayden; aunts, Minnie Griffey, Mable Surber, Martha Lou Rutherford, Rosa Griffey, and Molly Mae Terry; and uncle, Marvin Ray Hayden.

Chris is survived by his parents, Charles and Nancy Davis Hayden of Marion, Va.; children, Christopher Brian Hayden, Jr., Connor Wayne Hayden, and Kyrie Jeanette Hayden; ex-wife, Becky Hayden, all of Tazewell, Va.; sister, Judy Lynn Douglas; brother, Thomas Ross and wife, Kim, all of Marion, Va.; aunts, Barbara Powell and husband, Ronnie, Margaret Olinger, Mandy Shelton, Mary Sue Harris, Darcus Harris and husband, Graham, and Pearl Cox; uncles, Thomas Hayden and wife, Margaret, Roby G. Hayden and wife, Doris, and Hurley Davis and wife, Brenda; nieces, Ashley Douglas and Lacey Ross; nephew, Tylar Ross; and several cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Davis Cemetery, Mill Creek Road, Chilhowie, Va. with the Reverend Michael Hopkins officiating and Military Rites Conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps and Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Thursday, October 26, 2017, from 5 until 7 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
