Clara “Tootsie” Johnson Foster age 84, passed away Friday, May 31, 2024 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tenn.
Tootsie was born in Smyth County and was well known for working the City Drug Luncheonette Counter in the 70’s. From 1978 until 2002, Tootsie helped her husband, Ed Foster as a concessioner for Hungry Mother, Fairy Stone and Douthat State Parks as a wonderful cook. In 2002, she moved to Myrtle Beach, SC where she was the concessions leader for Legends as well as the Carolina Opry. After many years of working hard and serving others in her community always having a hug and smile for everyone, Tootsie retired to Pensacola, FL. Her daughters remember fondly that she taught them about Jesus and love at a young age.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lewis Foster; parents, Elmer & Dorothy Johnson; sister, Betty Johnson Owens; brothers, Ray Johnson and Bill “Minnerhead” Johnson.
Tootsie is survived by her daughters, Pamela Foster Anderson (Donald) & Melanie Foster Gallian (George); grandchildren, Stevie Stiltner, Jeremy Jones, Kheven Schweingruber; great-grandchildren, Syler Stiltner, Xavier Jones, Elliot Schweingruber, and Bryant Stiltner; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Brenda Blevins Wolfe for caring for Tootsie while she was in rehabilitation.
Graveside Services will be held Sunday, June 9th at 2:00 p.m. at Rose Lawn Mausoleum with Blake Frazier and Kenny Crook officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
