MARION, VIRGINIA: CLARENCE ALONZO PEAK, JR., age 78, died Monday, January 29, 2007 at Ridgefield Assisted Living Facility in Seven Mile Ford, Virginia, where he received loving and professional care for the past two years. He had served for many years with the United States Navy on the U.S.S. Missouri BB-63 and retired with the rank of F-6. Mr. Peak was preceded in death by his wife, Harriet Bryant Peak and two brothers, Harold and Troy. He is survived by one son, Robert L. Peak and wife, Heidi of Richmond, Virginia; Two step-sons, Scott Hammon of Atkins, Virginia and John Zenich and wife, Nancy of Winchester, Virginia; Two brothers, Joe Peake and wife, Vivian of Chucky, Tennessee, and Bob Peak and wife, Janet of Floyd, Virginia. Two sisters, Mary Tate and husband, Jim of Stafford, Virginia and Mildred Blevins and husband, Kenny of Chilhowie, Virginia; Two sisters-in-law, Hazel Peak and Jean Peak both of Chilhowie, Virginia; Five step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren also survive. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, January 31, 2007 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Bob Thornton officiating. Private graveside services will be held in Nelson County at a later date. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Seven Mile Ford Presbyterian Church, 267 Shawnee Trail, Chilhowie, Virginia 24319, Ridgefield Assisted Living, 155 Ridgefield Drive, Marion, Virginia 24354, or Home Nursing Co. Inc., P.O. Box 669, Lebanon, Virginia 24266.
