Deep in gratitude for a life well lived for 90 years, we announce the passing of D. Aurelie Henry. Aurelie spent her final days surrounded by her family, expressing her unwavering love and pride in each one of them. She shared precious memories and words of wisdom and found great joy in listening to Vera Lynn’s “We’ll Meet Again.”
Born to Thomas and Dorothy Moran in Brooklyn, NY, Aurelie was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband Daryl Henry, and her brother Thomas “TomE” Moran, whose vibrant spirit could always brighten her day.
Aurelie’s four children and their families were the center of her world. She was a loving mother to Mary Pat Angelini (Bob), Daryl Henry Jr. (Susie), Timothy Henry (Dale), and William Henry (Nicole). She was a proud grandmother to Toni Nagle (John), Sarah Worm (Jake), Kimberly Manuel (Brad), Bobby Angelini (Vera), Daryl Henry III, Christopher Henry, Katherine Casto (Ben), and Thomas Henry. She was also a great-grandmother to Alex, Angie, Nelly, Clint, Hank, Laura, Carter, Caroline, and Finn. She is also survived by her brothers Frank (Rosemary) and John “Jackie” (Sally), her sister-in-law Maureen Moran, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Giving back to her community was deeply important to her, and she spent many decades volunteering. Her impact was felt at many nonprofits, including Mercy Center and The Center in Asbury Park. When told to quit smoking to improve her health, she would always say that quitting would kill her. In the end, it was not smoking but complications from appendicitis that caused her health to decline, securing her perfect record of always being right. Those who were lucky enough to know her will miss her straightforward nature and pithy remarks. Often referred to as a spitfire, she always called it as she saw it, never hesitating to share her honest opinions with a touch of wit and tons of wisdom. Aurelie was known for her love of laughter and was an avid watcher of Seinfeld up until the very end of her life. She was passionate about her love for America and would proudly share her political beliefs and defend her dedication to Fox News with anyone she encountered. She was engaged with current events right up to her final days, only regretting that she didn’t get a chance to vote in the 2024 election.
Visitation will be at noon on Thursday, October 24th, followed by a mass of Christian burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anselm’s in Tinton Falls, NJ. On Saturday, October 26th, a graveside service will be held at Rose Lawn Cemetery, 4410 Lee Highway, Marion, Virginia, at 1:00 p.m., followed by a gathering of friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests to honor Aurelie by making a donation in her name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105; by phone (800) 805-5856; or online www.stjude.org/donate.
