Dan V. Vaught age 93, passed away Monday, March 20, 2023 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tenn.
Dan was a loving husband to his wife Elouise for 60 plus years. He retired after years as a carpenter, dairy farmer and horse trader. He loved Western riding horses and was a charter member and first vice-president of The Glade Mountain Saddle Club. Dan was successful in competition reining, western pleasure halter and gymkhana. He especially loved wagon trains and annual fiddler’s conventions. Ashley and Lori loved his passion and enthusiasm for horses. Dan will surely be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elouise Sasser Vaught; parents, Miner and Beliesa Vaught; brothers, Robert Vaught, Lawrence Vaught, Johnny Vaught, Ted Vaught; sisters, Mattie Wingate, Allene Hash, Annie Carter, Catherine Haga, Lois Lyons, Peggy Eckel, Charline Dixon and Doris Day.
Dan is survived by his brothers, David Vaught (Francis) and Lester Vaught (Linda), all of Galax, Va.; nephews and nieces, Kenneth, David, Charles, Vickie, Sandra, Karen, Mike, Jeff, Jimmy, Margaret, Mitchell, Kathy, Gordon, Debra, Barbara, Myra, Mendy, Wanda, Ronda, Keith, Beliesa, Gene, Rusty, Ronnie, Debbie, Ricky, Jeffery, Tracy, Cathy, Clifford, Robbie, Pam, Richard, Jr., Betty, Barbara, Jimbo, Tina; and many special friends and caregivers.
The family will receive friends, Saturday, March 25, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. at Jerusalem United Methodist Church, Grayson County with Pastor Derek “Peanut” Cowan officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the U.S. Navy Funeral Honors Guard and Independence VFW Post #7726.
