MARION, VIRGINIA: DANNY LEE THOMPSON, age 55, died Sunday, December 3, 2006 at his home in Marion, Virginia. He was a 1969 graduate of Marion Senior High School, and was a past member of the Marion JayCees and the International Explorer's Club. He was an avid collector of Indian artifacts, antiques, and historical items. Mr. Thompson was also an amateur archaeologist, geologist, spelunker, artist, and was a bookseller at the flea markets where he was known by some as "Bookman". He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Carrie Brooks Thompson, his grandparents, several aunts and uncles, including a special uncle, Jay Brooks. He is survived by his wife, Patsy Hooper of Marion, Virginia; One daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Mark Fowler of Waxhaw, North Carolina; One son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Missy Hooper of Marion, Virginia. Five grandchildren, Emily Fowler and C.J. Fowler both of Waxhaw, North Carolina, Kevin Hooper, Justin Hooper and Andrea Hooper all of Marion, Virginia; One aunt, Zillie McKinnon of Marion, Virginia; One uncle, Earnest Brooks of Arizona; and his mother-in-law, Betty Jean Mays of Marion, Virginia. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 5, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. David Neitch officiating. Burial will follow in West Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
