David C. Collins, Sr. age 73, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family.
David was a long-haul truck driver for 55 years. He was also a proud U.S. Army veteran of 7 years who earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded The National Defense Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Expert Rifle & Hand Grenade Badge, among his many honors. He loved music and played guitar and bass all his life. Life is never perfect, but David and Anita had the perfect relationship and they often reminded each other of this.
He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Remona Collins; sister, Deborah Palmer; and brother, Dale Collins.
David is survived by his wife Anita Collins of Saltville, Va.; daughters, Angie Czumalowski (John) of Bristol, Va. and Hannah Olinger of Saltville, Va.; sons, David Collins, Jr., Richard Collins, Justin Olinger, Jeremy Olinger, Austin Olinger all of Saltville, Va. and Jacob Olinger (Crystal) of Glade Spring, Va.; sister, Diane Harris of Saltville, Va.; fourteen grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and their families; and a special friend, Rick Stumbo of Saltville, Va.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday June 22, 2024 from 12 until 2 p.m. at the Palmer Mill, 618 Palmer Avenue, Saltville, Va. 24370 with Pastor Gary Evans officiating.
