MARION, VIRGINIA: DAVID R. SADLER, age 71, went to be with the Lord on Friday, February 19, 2010 at his home in Marion.
He was born May 16, 1938 in Leckie, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil R. Sadler and Margaret A. Shrader Sadler and brother Kenny Sadler. He worked as a mechanic all his life having worked for many years for Smyth County Motors and Triangle Service Station; also, owner and operator of Sadler's Garage before retiring.
Dave was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Saltville and an honorary member of the Marion Fire Department. In past years, he served as president of the Southwest Virginia Motorcycle Association and was active with the March of Dimes and Civil Service.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Betty J. Boardwine Sadler; two daughters Rebecca Eller and financé Johnny Burkett, Mary Gillespie and husband David, all of Marion; four stepchildren: Linda Routh and husband, Steve of Saltville, Virginia, Anne DeBord, Darrell Eller and wife Renee, and Joe Eller, all of Chilhowie, Virginia; one granddaughter, Shannon Bevill; three step-grandchildren: Cortney Reavis, Ben Eller, and CJ Eller; one special great-grandson, Montana Bevill; two brothers: Danny "Hondo" Sadler and companion Pat Price of Anawalt, West Virginia, Buford Sadler and wife Carol of Winston Salem, North Carolina; three sisters: Agnes Arletta Miller and husband Kyle of Manassas, Virginia, Ellen Gaynor Bonham and husband Sammy of Lorton, Virginia, Pat Davis and friend Jimmy Mills of Dale City, "special sister"-in-law, Thelma Taylor and special neighbors, Bud and Ann Robinson; brother-in-law and wife, Charles and Vivian Boardwine of Saltville, Virginia. David is also survived by three foster grandchildren, Bethany, Colleen and Rocquelle Spriggs; Steve Blevins who was like a son to him; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Monday, February 22, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Kenneth Gilbert and Reverend James Gentry officiating. Graveside Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 until the time of the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
