MARION, VIRGINIA: DAVID TILMAN SCHWARTZ, died April 26, 2011 at Bristol Regional Medical Center with his wife by his side.
David was born in Richmond, but loved Southwest Virginia and the beauty of the area. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech and was an architect for Dewberry and Davis and Lane Engineering for over 40 years. He was also a member of Royal Oak Presbyterian Church.
David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Carol Borders Schwartz of Marion, daughter and son-in-law Kelly and Jerry Hammond, and his cherished and most precious grandchildren, Lucas "Lukeman" Hammond, and Katherine "The Bug" Hammond, all of Chilhowie; his brother, William F. Schwartz and his family of Ashland, Virginia in Hanover County, his brother in law and best friend, Billy Borders and his wife Judy of Vinton and very special nieces and nephew and their families - Jeff Borders, Wendy Young, Dawn Hammer, and Tracey Williams. He also left behind a menagerie of pets that he loved as family. He is also survived by his coworkers, friends, and second family at Lane Engineering.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Brown and Norma for their care and friendship. They would also like to thank Dr. Sue Prill and the nurses on 2 West at Bristol Regional Medical Center, especially, Donna and Stephanie for their care, compassion, and smiles.

Funeral Services will be held Thursday, April 28, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Alan Gray officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
