MARION, VIRGINIA: DAVID EDWARD STAMPER, age 59, died November 11, 2006 at his home in Marion, Virginia. He was the son of the late Paul and Marion Jenkins Stamper. He began working at Southwestern State Hospital in 1979 and then went to work for the Virginia Department of Corrections in 1984. While working at the Virginia Department of Corrections he was a correctional officer and a member of the E Squad. He retired from the Virginia Department of Corrections in 2004. He was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, a 32nd degree Mason, and a Shriner. He was a friend to everyone and loved the outdoors. He is survived by several cousins, including two special cousins, Carolyn Cattle of Marion, Virginia and Rosemary Strickland and her husband, Jimmy, along with their 3 sons, Brian, Craig and Darren all of Durham, North Carolina; one uncle, Marvin Stamper and wife, Irene of Chilhowie, Virginia; two aunts, Ruby Callahan and husband, Zeak of Roanoke, Virginia, and Ola Coffee of Tampa, Florida; and special friends, Mark Sheets and Bill Asbury. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. at his home on 231 Thomas Bridge Road, Marion, Virginia 24354 with Rev. Jeff Lambert officiating. The family will receive friends Monday afternoon from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel, Marion, Virginia.
