MARION, VIRGINIA, DAVID R. WEAVER, age, 64, passed away July 13th at his home after a valiant fight in the last days of his life.
He was the son of Dorothy and Cecil Weaver of Marion. He leaves behind brothers and their spouses, John (Jackie), Ernie (Betty), Bill (Barbara), and Thom (Jean); sisters, Mary and Cissy; cousins, nieces and nephews; special friends, Kathy, Les and Savannah Polk.
He was a Virginia Tech football walk-on and everyone was so proud because he loved football.
He was a successful civil engineer in West Virginia and Florida before moving back to Marion in 2010. He loved Christmas and coming home to make his "famous" stuffing and cowboy cookies. In spring and summer you could always find him in his garden.
Our "big bear" David will be missed by family and friends for there was no one like him.
The family thanks the EMT's, doctors and nurses who cared for David.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Marion Life Saving Crew, P. O. Box 784, Marion, Virginia 24354.
There will be a memorial service and celebration of David's life Sunday, July 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Alan Gray officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Thom and Jean Weaver, 875 Whippoorwill Lane, Marion, Virginia.
