David Scott Yates

HONAKER, Va.
 
David Scott Yates age 62, passed away March 05, 2024 at his home.

Scott was a loving, devoted, kind father, brother, papa and friend. He cared for family and friends alike and was willing to lend a hand when he could. Scott was not one to sit still, he was constantly busy mowing, yardwork, cars, motorcycles – you name it, Scott would keep himself busy with it. His favorite thing was helping his boys with their projects; it kept him busy and close to his family. He retired after 20+ years of employment as a Corrections Officer for the Appalachian Detention Center. Scott was very loved by his family and friends, and will be missed by them all.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Renee Perkins Yates; parents, Orville Lee Yates and Kathleen Hart Yates; great-niece, Isabella Ramey.

Scott is survived by two sons, Blake Scott Yates and wife, Angela of Honaker, Va., Brandon David Yates and wife, Nikki of Meadowview, Va.; three grandchildren, Emma Yates, Lucas Yates, and Lawson Yates; sister Diana Belcher (Ronald) of Honaker, Va.; brother, Jerry Yates (Connie) of Abingdon, Va.; several nieces, nephews and their families; and a host of friends.

 As per Scott’s wishes, there will be no funeral services.
