Debora (Debbie) Catron Martin

d. June 26, 2018

MARION, Va.

Debora (Debbie) Catron Martin, age 62, passed away Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, Tenn.

She was born October 12, 1955 in Marion to the late Lee Roy and Ina Goodpasture Catron. Debbie worked as a dispatcher for Smyth County for several years; also, in registration at Smyth County Community Hospital and during the summers at Williams Garden Center. However, her favorite job was being a stay at home nana. She was a very active member of Grosses Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for 20 years, was instrumental in starting the Children's Church, was co-director of the Youth Group, head of the Planning Committee, and church secretary with duties of maintaining the church bulletin and taking care of the crafts for Bible School. Debbie loved gardening and working with her flowers; enjoyed crafts, traveling on Sunshine Tours with her sisters, Bobbie and Linda, and planning family vacations was a task she enjoyed taking on. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to many, but there was nothing she loved more than her grandchildren. Debbie will be missed.

Debbie is survived by her husband of 38 years, Pat Blaine Martin of Marion, Va.; daughters, Brandi Cregger and husband, Brian, Danya Whitt and husband, Josh, Alison Martin, all of Marion, Va. and Rachel Martin also of Marion, Va, and her fiancé, Chris Shelor of Christiansburg, Va.; step-son, Brian Martin of Kingsland, Ga.; brother, Jimmy "Jess" Catron and wife, Judy of Chilhowie, Va.; sisters, Janice Reed and husband, Gary of Meadowview, Va., Linda Martin of Chilhowie, Va., and Barbara Griffith and husband, Steve of Roanoke, Va.; grandchildren, Ethan, Konner, and Harper Whitt, Isaiah and Josef Cregger; step-grandchildren, Devin and Bethany Martin; several nieces and nephews; a large church family; and special friends, Shelia Russell, Ann Blevins, Alex Lefler and Barbara Carter.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 29, 2018 at 8 p.m. at Grosses Creek Baptist Church, Chilhowie, Va. with Pastors George Jessee and Brian Cregger officiating. Graveside services will be held Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11 a.m. at Grosses Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 until the time of service at Grosses Creek Baptist Church.
