Marion, Virginia
Deborah Ann Whitley Combs age 70, passed away Friday, March 14, 2025 at Valley Health Care Center, Chilhowie, Va. After a six year battle with different illnesses, she is healed forever.
Deborah was a big hearted woman who loved her family with every ounce of love she had. She was a wonderful wife, mother, nannie or nan to her family. Deborah worked as a CNA at Southwest Virginia Mental Health Institute. She loved to cook – and Bobby was quite often her guinea pig when she wanted to try out a new recipe. If she wasn’t working or cooking, Deborah loved to camp, square dance and listen to bluegrass. She was a member of Freedom Tabernacle Baptist Church and of the Red Hat Society; she was also a history buff, especially when it came to the Civil War. Deborah’s family and friends will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Monnie Whitley; sisters, Rita Whitley and Myrtle Arnold.
Deborah is survived by her husband Robert “Bobby” Eugene Combs of Marion, Va.; children, Stephen Parks (Zaria) of Glade Spring, Va., Michael Parks (Jimandi) of Damascus, Va. and Julie Parks of Atkins, Va.; step children, Bobby Combs Jr, (Holly Pickle) of Marion, Va. and Rebecca Saltz of Chilhowie, Va.; sister, Lois Meador (Don) of Troutdale, Va.; nine grandchildren, Katie Parks, Melanie Parks, Owen Parks, Lane Parks, Casey Johnson, Kaley Clark, Abbie Parks, Allie Parks and Blake Clark; several great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and their families; and many loved extended family members.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 11 a.m. until 12 noon at Fraziers’ Seaver-Brown Chapel, 237 East Main Street, Marion, Va.
