SUGAR GROVE, Va.: DELLA GAY IRVIN ROBBINS, age 85, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at UVA Culpeper Regional Hospital in Culpeper, Va.
She was born on May 17, 1930 in Blue Springs, Va. to the late James and Nellie Irvin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Robbins; grandson, Travis Berry; and 12 brothers and sisters.
Mama was a member of Elizabeth United Methodist Church. She was certainly active within the community for numerous years of her life. From assisting with numerous things at Sugar Grove and Adwolfe Fire Department’s; being an active member with the Seven Mile Ford Moose Lodge, 1004; and of course the 30 plus years of service she and daddy put in at Country stores at Thomas Bridge, her life was evidence enough for the enjoyment she had for helping and serving the community. Everyone who ever had the pleasure of knowing mama knew she enjoyed her Dr. Pepper, but she will be remembered most as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her.
Family remaining to cherish her memory includes 2 daughters, Wanda Pickle of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Felicia R. Mann and husband, Don of Culpeper, Va.; grandchildren, Jennifer Patterson of Marion, Charlie Pickle and wife, Vicki of Natural Bridge, Va., and Adam Berry and wife, Chasity of Ferrum, Va.; 10 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; 2 sisters, Beulah Burse of New Jersey, and Frances Bennett of Sugar Grove, Va; 1 brother, Laney Irvin of Sugar Grove, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 2 p.m. at Elizabeth United Methodist Church in Teas, Va. Graveside services will follow at Pugh Cemetery, in Teas. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at Seaver-Brown Chapel from 6 until 8 p.m.
