MARION, VIRGINIA: DESSERIE "HAPPY" MORRIS, age 69, died Wednesday, December 15, 2004 in Smyth County Community Hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She retired from Southwestern State Hospital after 31 years of service. Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, and one brother. Mrs. Morris is survived by her husband, Gerard "Jerry" Morris of Marion, Virginia. One sister, Delba Slagle of Marion, Virginia. One brother and two sisters-in-law, Sherman and Nancy Lawson of Clarksville, Tennessee, and Josephine Lawson of Marion, Virginia. Fifteen nieces and nephews, Kay Lawson, Nora Lee Stroupe, Cindy Brown, Tammy McElroy, Sherman Lawson, Jr., Sharon Hutton, Richard Hutton, Debbie Jones, Gayle Slagle, Connie West, Ann McAllister, Billy McAllister, John McAllister, Timmy Barker, and Tony Barker and a multitude of cousins. Funeral Services will be held Friday, December 17, 2004 at 2:30 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Rev. Jeff Lambert and Rev. Neville Mozingo officiating. Entombment will follow in Rose Lawn Mausoleum, Marion, Virginia. The family will receive friends Friday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
