MARION, Va.
Dollie Atkins VanHoy, left her family peacefully and met her Lord, Saturday, June 29, 2019 at her home.
Dollie was a loving wife, mom, mamaw/gran, caring sister and devoted friend. If she wasn't enjoying her family, she was always working to provide. After graduating from Patrick Henry High in Glade Spring, Dollie worked for 48 years at Brunswick/General Dynamics where she served as secretary for the Local Union #1764 and was a valued employee. Always an avid ironer, she kept Wayne wrinkle free for more than 37 years. Dollie will be missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy Samuel and Virginia Pauline Poston Atkins; brother, Michael Atkins; infant granddaughters, Abagail and Elizabeth; son-in-law, Willard Shupe.
Dollie is survived by her husband, Wayne VanHoy; daughters, Laura Fisher and husband Troy, of Knoxville Tenn., Brandi Shupe and special friend, Chris of Rural Retreat, Va.; grandchildren, Trinity "Danielle" Fisher, Haven Fisher, Kadence "Boo Boo" Fisher, all of Knoxville, Tenn., Larry Wayne Shupe of the home; sister, Ann Perrotta and husband Ray, of Marion, Va.; brother, Gerald Atkins and wife, Diane of Roanoke, Va.; sister-in-law, Debbie Phipps of Virginia Beach. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews including Melissa "Missy" Kimberlin, two special great-nieces, who she considered the same as grandchildren, Morgan Kimberlin Harley, Amber "Nay Nay" Kimberlin and great-great nephew, Atticus Harley, all of Atkins, Va.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 11 a.m at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow at the Old Glade Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Glade Spring, Va. The family will receive friends Monday, July 1, at Seaver-Brown Chapel from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 246, Abingdon, Va. 24212.
