SUGAR GROVE, Va.
Donald V. Harrington, age 81, of Sugar Grove, Va. died peacefully at his home, Sunday, July 17, 2016.
He was born October 16, 1934; the youngest of 12, to the late Charles M. and Lettie Esther Dunavant Harrington. Don served the Lord all his life. He was an ordained minister, Sunday school teacher, and a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church. He worked at Brunswick in Marion for 43 years. In his latter years he wrote a book as a legacy to his family entitled “Who is PawPaw Harrington?”
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 11 siblings and several nieces and nephews.
Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ruth Shuler Harrington of Sugar Grove, Va.; children, James D. Harrington (Cathie) of Wytheville, Va., and Sandy Rorrer (Tony); grandchildren, Rodney Rorrer (Marlena), Amanda Rorrer Havens (Broderick) all of Dublin, Va.; Brandon Harrington of Charlotte, N.C., Kayla Harrington of Sevierville, Tn.; great-grandchildren, Ben, Jacob and Will Rorrer and Levi and Tegan Havens; and numerous special nephews, nieces and friends.
The family would like to thank everyone who took such good care of dad during his time of illness.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with the Reverend Tommy Ramsey and Deacon Jimmy Skidmore officiating. Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Hutton-Cox Cemetery, Sugar Grove, Va. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
