ATKINS, VIRGINIA: DONALD BOWEN PRATER, age 79, died Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Evansham Manor, Wytheville, Virginia. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joe and one week ago by his brother, Jim. Donald was a member of Davis Memorial United Methodist Church. He was also a member for over 50 years of the Marion Lodge #31, Marion Royal Arch Chapter #54, and Lynn Commandery #9, Atkins Volunteer Fire Department and Smyth County Moose Lodge. He is survived by his wife, Sandra Arnold Prater of Atkins, Virginia; daughter, Susan Prater Forkner of Abingdon, Virginia; son, Mark Prater and wife Joanie of Atkins Virginia; granddaughter, Ashley Tolliver of Bristol, Tennessee; grandson, Michael Forkner, Abingdon, Virginia; his dog, Sparky; step-grandson, Christopher Counts, Seven Mile Ford, Virginia; sister, Frances Bruce, Pulaski, Virginia; sister-in-law, Alice Prater, Kalamazoo, Michigan; three nephews, Robert and David Prater, Michigan, Bart Prater of Virginia. Funeral Services will be held Monday, August 18, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend David Neel officiating. Graveside services will be Tuesday, August 19, at 11:00 a.m. at Wassum Cemetery, Atkins, Virginia. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Atkins Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
