Drema Robinson age 85, entered her heavenly home Friday, April 7, 2023 at Francis Marion Manor, Marion, Va.
Drema Robinson was a beautiful example of God’s love. She was a devoted and selfless wife and mother. She gave of herself to help others, thus inspiring her daughters to help others in need. Anyone who knew Drema fell in love with her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She even earned the nickname “Mrs. Claus” while a resident at Francis Marion Manor because of her sweet spirit and joyous laugh. Drema loved being in the kitchen and cooking delicious food for her family. Her daughters will never forget the homemade pies she prepared at Christmas. She made each one their favorite flavor. Her passion of cooking lead to her job in the dietary department of Smyth County Community Hospital. Drema also loved serving her church family at Marion Baptist Church. She enjoyed sharing her Bible knowledge as a Sunday school teacher for the Rebekah class. She also cooked many Wednesday night meals with brown beans and cornbread being a favorite.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reeves and Eugenia Osborne; sister-in-law, Ruth Osborne.
Drema is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Benny Robinson; six daughters, Debra Robinson, Sherry Hester (Gary), Diane McThenia, all of Marion, Va., Sonja Smith (Randy) of Saltville, Va., Lisa Taylor (David), Bluefield, Va. and Christie Turner (Kevin) of Ridgeway, Va.; eight grandchildren, Brent Hester (Sarah), Kayla Winebarger (Julius), J.D. Taylor (Casey), Jacob Smith (Kellie), Ben Taylor (Dakota), Corey Turner, Rachel Puckett (Garrett), and Vannah Shouse; step-grandchild, Landon Smith (Carol); eight great-grandchildren, Payton Hester, Dalton Hester, Ross Winebarger, Lillian Taylor, Hadley Taylor, Bexley Smith, Ashley Puckett, and River Taylor; step-great-grandchildren, Kate Smith and Emmi Smith; brothers, Denver Osborne (Louise), and Robert Osborne, all of Marion, Va. several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 14, 2023 from 10 until 11 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel, 237 East Main Street, Marion, VA 24354. Private family services will be held Friday, at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor David Taylor and Reverend Dr. Charles Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Zion UMC Cemetery, Marion, Va.
