Elder Eugene Blevins

CHILHOWIE, VIRGINIA: ELDER EUGENE BLEVINS, age 89, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Smyth County Community Hospital, Marion, Virginia. Preceded in death by his loving wife Lillie "Tommy" Blevins of 67 years; two sons, Roy Blevins and Danny Blevins and grandson, Jeremy Blevins. He was a member of Rush Creek Primitive Baptist Church and served as Pastor for 48 years. Elder Eugene was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. As Pastor and a friend, he was a generous source of help, guidance and an example to many of Jesus' love and grace. He is survived by two daughters, Nina Heath and husband, Ronnie of Glade Spring, Virginia and Sharon Francisco and husband, Robert of Chilhowie, Virginia; one son, Gary Blevins of the home; two daughters-in-law, Betty Blevins of Chilhowie, Virginia and Donna Blevins of Atkins, Virginia; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for the Elder Thomas Eugene Blevins will be held Thursday, January 9, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Rush Creek Primitive Baptist Church, Route 605 in Widener Valley, Washington County, Virginia with Elder Larry Blevins, Elder J.C. Hager and Elder Eddie Lyle officiating. Burial will follow in Rush Creek Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
