Elizabeth Marie Greer

November 7, 1958 — October 2, 2024

Marion, Virginia

I thought of you today, but that was nothing new. I thought about you yesterday and the days before that too. I think of you in silence and often speak your name. All I have are memories and your pictures in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, from which I’ll never part. God has you in His arms, I have you in my heart. ~loved by Liz ~

Marion, Virginia

Elizabeth Marie Greer age 65, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at Johnson City Medical Center, Johnson City, Tenn.

Born in Washington D.C., Elizabeth grew up in Orlando, Fla. but for 18 years she called Whitetop, Va. home and raised 3 of her 4 children there before moving to Marion, Va. where her son was born. She had many crafty talents including painting, sewing, drawing and writing poetry. Elizabeth was a God fearing woman, spending many hours every week studying her Bible, making sure the Lord’s word was her priority. She worked hard for many years, not only raising and taking care of her family, but working jobs outside the home as well. Elizabeth loved her family dearly – helping in any way she could when they needed her – especially her grandkids who loved their Nanny & Nana as much as she loved them. A woman of God, her heart held the Lord and her family close, and she will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Hancock; brother, Dan Taylor; and grandparents, Bill and Ardna Buchanan.

Elizabeth is survived by three daughters, Amanda Buchanan (Josh) of Rich Valley, Va., Kim McFarlane (Shannon) of Glade Spring, Va. and Carrie Perry (Lacy) of Whitetop, Va.; son, Landon Perkins of Marion, Va.; mother, Lillian Hancock of Christiansburg, Va.; sister, Barbara Wilson (Ted) of Radford, Va.; brothers, Michael Taylor (Angie) of Christiansburg, Va. and Mark Taylor (Melinda) of Atkins, Va.; five grandchildren, Easton Buchanan, Carl McFarlane, Brentley McFarlane, Ryan Perry and Chealsea Perry; two great-grandchildren, Skylar King and Olivia King; several nieces and nephews, including special niece, Betty Jean Hesson of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; special friends, Gracie Odham and Anna Lou Greer; several other dear friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 4 until 7 p.m. at the Holston Hills Country Club, 1000 Country Club Road, Marion VA 24354. Thank you to everyone who has given our family time to grieve, to accept and to comprehend this tragedy. We are so brokenhearted. As all 4 children live in different directions - We don’t have a common meeting place to accept friends, flowers, cards & food, it would be better if it was brought to the Celebration so all 4 of us can enjoy and accept these with you - our family and friends, sharing our memories and love for our mom.
