Elouise Sasser Vaught

Elouise Sasser Vaught, age 77 passed away January 6, 2023 at her home.

Elouise was a loving wife to her husband of 60 plus years. She retired after 40 years as a care specialist with Southwest State Hospital. Elouise was a wonderful mentor to staff and assisted many patients. When she wasn’t working, she loved Western riding horses and was a charter member of The Glade Mountain Saddle Club. Her family loved her cooking, especially cornbread, beans and pulled pork. Ashley and Lori loved her iced tea. Elouise will surely be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie and Nannie Sasser; sister, Margaret Sasser; brothers, Ralph Sasser, Jessie Sasser, Jr., Robert Sasser, Richard Sasser and Donald Sasser.

Elouise is survived by her husband, Dan V. Vaught; nieces and nephews, Gene, Rusty, Ronnie, Debbie, Ricky, Jeffery, Tracy, Cathy, Clifford, Robbie, Pam, Richard, Jr., Betty, Barbara, Jimbo, Tina, Kenneth, David, Charles, Vickie, Sandra, Karen, Mike, Jeff, Jimmy, Margaret, Mitchell, Kathy, Gordon, Debra, Barbara, Myra, Mendy, Wanda, Ronda, and Keith; cousin, Gail; and many special friends.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday, January 10, 2023 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Jerusalem United Methodist Church, Grayson County with Pastor Derek Cowan officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
