Emma Josephine Aker Terry

CHILHOWIE, Va.: Emma Josephine Aker Terry, passed away peacefully at her home and went to be with the Lord after a courageous battle with cancer on May 23, 2016. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to everyone who knew her. She will be sadly missed by all her family. Mrs. Terry was preceded in death by husband, Thomas Terry; parents, Dell and Fannie Aker; brothers, Elva Aker and Gaylord Aker; sisters, Louise Troxell and Katherine Bartley and a special sister-in-law, Thelma Aker. She is survived by daughters, Angelia Romans and husband Rick, and Frances Cortner and husband James all of Chilhowie, Va.; son, Bob Terry and wife Patsy of Broken Arrow, Okla.; three grandchildren, Betsy Douthitt and husband Alan, Chris Romans and wife Julie and Scarlett Blevins and husband Kevin; five special great-grandchildren, Tyler and Abbie Douthitt, Bailey and Tanner Blevins and Dylan Osborne; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses at Bristol Hospice, Dr. Armstrong and Dr. Verdona. Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Pastor Steve Aker officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at 11 a.m. at St. James Lutheran Church Cemetery, Chilhowie, Va.
