MARION, Va.: ERNEST “ERNIE” RAY FANNIN, age 70 born in Coalwood, West Va., passed away Friday, January 22, 2016 at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Va. He was preceded in death by his son, Glenn Scott.
Mr. Fannin is survived by his wife, Dianne Fowler Fannin; one daughter, Monnie Richardson and husband, Jay of Sugar Grove, Va; one son, David Scott and wife, Kim of Chapel Hill, NC; four grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Emi Scott of Marion, Va, Ethan and Jacob Richardson of Sugar Grove, Va and Alex Burchett of Marion, Va; two sisters, Betty Jane Collis and Lillian Fannin of Tazewell, Va; a special uncle, Fred Fowler; numerous cousins and many friends.
Ernie was an Air Force Veteran. He was a member and Treasurer of Mount Carmel United Methodist Church. He was retired from Brunswick/ATP.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend David Neel and Reverend Harry Howe officiating. Graveside Services will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Marion, Va. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
