MARION, VIRGINIA: ERSHEL A. BOSTIC, age 97, died Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Summit Medical Center, Nashville, Tennessee. Mr. Bostic was born September 6, 1915 in Russell County, Virginia to the late William and Minnie Vance Bostic. He lived most of his life in Abingdon, Virginia and was currently residing in Nashville, Tennessee. He was a faithful Christian and a very active member of the Abingdon United Methodist Church; as well as the Odd Fellows and many civic and community organizations. Mr. Bostic was a veteran of World War II having served in the North Africa Theatre under George Patton. He was owner and operator of E.A. Bostic Coal Company for thirty five years. He will be remembered as a loving husband, adored father, grandfather and a generous, caring person that will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Aker Bostic. Mr. Bostic is survived by one daughter, Deborah E. Matheson and husband, Jack (Jay). of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee; one son, Gregory C. Bostic and wife, Vicki of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; five grandchildren, Brandalyn Tabor of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Clayton Bostic and wife, Ami of Louisville, Kentucky, Nicole Matheson Simmons and husband, Chris of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jasyon Matheson and wife, Misty, and Nathan Matheson and wife, Megan all of Nashville, Tennessee; one brother, Mac Bostic and wife, Fayerene of Salem, Virginia; one sister, Earlene Hayder of Williamsburg, Virginia; and seven great-grandchildren. Graveside Services will be held Monday, November 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery with Reverend John Chapman officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the family at www.seaverbrown.com.
