Eula Gray Richardson Moore

MARION, Va. 

Eula Gray Richardson Moore age 90, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Johnston Memorial Hospital, Abingdon, Va.

Eula Gray had an incredible faith and love for her Lord and church. She was a long-time member of Marion’s First United Methodist Church, where she served faithfully as a past President of the UMW and an Acolyte mother for years. Eula was a loving wife, mother, and was so proud of the ones who called her grandmother. She worked her family business for many years, but also worked with Brunswick, Marion Hosiery, and was also a dispatcher with the Sheriff’s office. She loved music, and both cats and dogs - and always wanted to write a book about a white cat “Snowflake & Her Friends.” Eula was a proud member of the Eastern Star and a winning bridge player. She enjoyed a long, full life and will be missed. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Thomas Moore; son, James “Jimmy” Thomas Moore, Jr.; parents, Blaine and Maude Richardson.

Eula is survived by her daughter, Jama Irene Hash of Leland, N.C.; sons, John Tipton Moore and wife, Lisa Gail of Atkins, Va., and Joseph Timothy Moore and wife, Jane of Chilhowie, Va.; sister, Doris Jean Wolfe of Marion, Va.; five grandchildren, Megan Jordan and husband, Oliver, Josh Hash and wife, Alice Abed, Lauren Hash-Godwin and husband, Jeremy, Laken Nichole Moore and boyfriend, Patrick Altieri, and James Taylor “JT” Moore; three great-grandchildren, Olivia Sarah-Grace Jordan, Sophia Ella-Rose Jordan, and Paxton Scott Godwin; friend and father to her grandchildren, Joe Hash; special friend, Beverly Hogston; several nieces and nephews. 

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. Graveside services will be held Thursday, at 2 p.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.
