SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: EVA "TOOTS" COX JARVIS, age 84, died Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Smyth County Community Hospital in Marion, Virginia. Eva was a member of the Sugar Grove Baptist Church and was the president of the Rye Valley Homemakers Club for several years. She was also a correspondent for the Smyth County News and a substitute teacher for the Smyth County School Systems. Eva was preceded in death by her parents, Isom Cox and Lydia Cox; one sister, Polly Cox Earnest; three brothers, Robert, Gyke, and June Cox. She is survived by her husband, Thomas Elmer Jarvis of Sugar Grove, Virginia; two daughters, Louise Jarvis of Fairfax, Virginia and Margaret Jarvis Springer of Roanoke, Virginia; three sons, Danny Jarvis of Bristol, Virginia, Tom C. Jarvis of Madison, Alabama, and Jeff Jarvis of Radford, Virginia; one sister, Ann Jennings of Marion, Virginia; several nieces and nephews; seven grandchildren, Kendall, Maggie, Adam, and Will Jarvis, Pam Calkins, Lisa Chik, and DuWayne Shearer; and seven great-grandchildren, Allison, Aaron, and Jeremy Calkins, Brittany and Tanner Chik, and Amber and Ashley Shearer. Also surviving are her dedicated, loving, and loyal caregivers, Elizabeth Wolford, Frances Slagle, and Blanche Thomas. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at Sugar Grove Baptist Church in Sugar Grove, Virginia with Rev. Billy Gwinn and Rev. Kenny Price officiating. Burial will follow at Hutton Cox Family Cemetery in Sugar Grove, Virginia. Pallbearers will be Russell Joines, Mike Greene, Adam Jarvis, Will Jarvis, David Earnest, and Frank Calkins. Honorary Pallbearers will be Raymond Jarvis and Jacob T. Wolford. The family will receive friends Sunday, November 23, 2008 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sugar Grove Life Saving Crew, c/o Carol Choate, P.O. Box 108, Sugar Grove, VA 24375 or the Sugar Grove Fire Department, P.O.
