Frances Ann Dyson Ferguson, age 83, went home to be with her Heavenly Father, Saturday, March 16, 2019.
She was born February 25, 1936 in Loudon, Tenn. to the late Clint Edwin and Edith Wells Dyson. As a valued member of the community, she worked for the Brunswick Corporation for 35 years; volunteered for the Smyth County Community Hospital Ladies Auxiliary for 19 years; served as a Santa's Elf for Social Services; and was a member of Marion Baptist Church for over 50 years. Fran was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed live theater, southern gospel music and bus tours with her friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Alfred Wayne Ferguson, Sr.; two brothers, Clint Edwin Dyson, Jr. and Joe Grover Dyson.
Fran is survived by three children, Alfred Wayne Ferguson, Jr. of Sylva, N.C., Dr. Timothy Edwin Ferguson of Covington, Va., and Lisa Ann Ferguson Johnston and husband, Michael of Roanoke, Va.; granddaughter, Codi Elaine Bowman and Andrew Henry of Luray, Va.; grandson, Hunter Michael Johnston of Roanoke, Va.; great-grandson, Shane Andrew Henry; great-granddaughter, Kaylee Ann Henry; sisters, Peggy Stuttaford of Sacramento, Cali., Faye Chapman of Uniontown, Ohio, and Debra Dyson of Marion, Va.; sister-in-law, Gay Nell Mitchell; brothers-in-law, Adron and Buford Ferguson, all of Lebanon, Va.; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Good Samaritan Hospice for their time and compassion.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel in Marion, Va. with Dr. Charles D. Stewart officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday, March 22, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum in Marion, Va. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Marion Baptist Church, 1258 North Main Street, Marion, Va. 24354.
