SUGAR GROVE, VIRGINIA: FRED E. DAUGHERTY, age 86, went to be with the Lord, on Friday September 21, 2012 after a courageous battle with lung disease, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Daugherty was of the Christian Faith. He was a veteran of the Korean War having served with the United States Air Force; and was retired from the Radford Arsenal after 20 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Willie Pansy Daugherty; three sons, Johnny, Ronnie and Danny Daugherty; one daughter, Debbie Daugherty; his parents, John Robert and Carrie Miller Daugherty and several brothers and sisters.
Fred is survived by two sons, Randy Daugherty and wife, Trish, of Sugar Grove, Virginia; and Rickie Daugherty and fiancée, Rebecca of Marion, Virginia; granddaughters, Misty Daugherty Crutchfield and husband, Stephen, and Cody Vargason; great-grandchildren, Carly Crutchfield, Rainni Crutchfield and Colby Crutchfield; step-granddaughter, Jessica Bowman and husband, Jamie; step-great-grandchildren, J.T. Bowman and Kaitlin Bowman; former daughter-in-law, Patsy Doyle. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Mike Sage officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Sugar Grove, Virginia with Military Rites conducted by Francis Marion VFW Post #4667. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
