Freida “Nanny” Widener Osborne age 73, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023 at Mountain Laurel Rehab & Nursing, Rural retreat, Va.

Freida was one of a kind! Lots of folks knew her as Nanny from her many years as a nurse – either with Smyth County Community Hospital or the State Hospital, where she met the love of her life Henry, her husband of 33 years. Freida loved to cook, garden, can food, and be home; but most of all, she loved her family and friends. Nanny will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Morris Osborne; parents, Holbert and Ethel Widener; son, Mark Avery Tilson; and 10 brothers.

Freida is survived by her sister, Retha Harris; granddaughters, Shelby Tilson and husband, Justin, and Candice Davis and husband, Bobby, all of Marion, Va.; great-grandchildren, Colby Davis, Lila Davis, Sawyer Johnson and Coleson Johnson; special niece, Carlene Walton; special nephew, Jimmy Widener; special friends Melanie and Tony Jones, all of Marion, Va.; and many nieces, nephews and their families.

Special thanks to the nursing staff of Mountain Laurel Rehab, especially Jessica, for the care given to Nanny.

Graveside services will be held Monday, July 24, 2023 at 1 p.m. at Rose Lawn Cemetery Mausoleum, 4410 Lee Highway, Marion, Va.
