MARION, VIRGINIA: GEORGE M. VACHA, age 78, died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at his home in Marion, Virginia.
Born January 25, 1936 in Cleveland Ohio to the late Fred and Helen Matusivich Vacha; Master Chief Petty Officer Vacha proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1954 until 1974. He fought in the Korean War, the Bay of Pigs and was a disabled Vietnam Veteran. He was devoted to God, his family and his country. He will be greatly missed. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his sisters, Helen McFarland and Evelyn Dugan; and grandson, Christopher Vacha.
George is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mildred Booth Vacha of Marion, Virginia; one son, Michael Vacha of Marion, Virginia; two sisters, Andrea Hicks and Monna Shannon and husband, Bill all of Cleveland, Ohio; three grandchildren, Ricky Vacha and wife, Reasha of Avon, North Carolina, Jessica Vacha of Portsmith, Virginia and Stephanie Vacha Kansas; five great-grandchildren, Raelyn, Aria, Christopher "Bubba", Malachai, and Javan.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, June 10, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel with Reverend Jeff Wallace officiating. Graveside Services will be held Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Mount Rose Cemetery, Glade Spring, Virginia. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Seaver-Brown Chapel.
